Peugeot Citroën close to buying Opel! | Autoline

PSA could finalized the acquisition of Opel from General Motors next week! You can see the report below, from Friday's Autoline Daily. And also read the details from Bloomberg: bloomberg.com.

It will be fascinating to see how PSA strategizes to make Opel profitable. They'll obviously share more parts, suppliers and platforms, but with most factories in France and Germany, it will be hard to reduce expenses closing plants or cutting jobs.

From a marketing perspective, Opel's semi-premium approach is similar to current Peugeot positioning, but I don't see it as a problem, as long as they keep being run separately in terms of packaging and styling (like Kia and Hyundai, for instance). And what will happen with Opel sales abroad, which are (of course) currently managed by GM?
