Vintage AMC tests | Javelin, AMX, Gremlin

These are road tests from when these American Motors cars were new. The '69 AMX, the '71 Javelin SST, and the '71 Gremlin. They perform pretty well, at least on these clips.

It has to be noted that they were testing cars provided by American Motors themselves, and one would imagine they would check for everything working perfectly before handing them to the press.

This show was called "Car and Track", and seems like it was among the first, if not the first, TV show about cars in the United States. The host was Bud Lindemann, a famous race commentator.

Here you can see Roy Chaplin Jr. himself, Chairman and CEO of American Motors, explaining why the Gremlin was given that name.
