Libyan rebels fight on ZX Chinese pickup trucks

Es conocido el hecho de que en muchos conflictos armados del tercer mundo en las últimas décadas las camionetas Toyota han sido protagonistas. O sea, incluso existió una Guerra Toyota.

Pero la Globalización es imparable, especialmente hablando de su mejor alumno, China. Esto porque parece que los rebeldes libios están cambiando la tradicional Hilux por las chinísimas Zhongxing Hebei! Estas camionetas han sido bien cubiertas por la prensa, peleando al lado de las clásicas Toyota.

But Globalization is unstoppable, as is it's best example: China. Seems like the Lybian rebels are changing to Zhongxing Hebei pickups! They have been well covered by the press, fighting aside the traditional Hilux.

Mejor conocidas como ZX, estas camionetas también se venden en Chile. El nombre del modelo visto a los costados aparece como "Grandhiland", pero acá y en China se llaman "Grandtiger". Parece que el primero es solo el nombre que les pone el distribuidor regional Tayo Auto.

Better known under the name ZX, these pickups are also sold in Chile. The model name seen on the sides is "Grandhiland" and not "Grandtiger", their original name in China. I think that Grandhiland is just the name the regional distributor Tayo Auto gives the pickups it sells.

ZX está mandando montones de camionetas a Medio Oriente, según su sitio web. "6000 unidades fueron exportadas a Libia en un único lote en 2009, creando el record exportador de la industria automotriz china hasta la fecha", dicen.

ZX is shipping loads of pickups to the Middle East, as seen on their website. "6000 units were exported to Libya in a single batch in 2009, creating the export record of overall Chinese auto industry so far", they say.
